Mama Stones

Mama Stones GigRoadside played Mama Stones in Exeter during 2013. The night the band played they were setting the place up for Joss Stone to play with her band and shooting a live video, so the crew there were really helpful and it was a fascinating insight into how a full time band would set up, the sound crew were excellent and worked really hard to get a great live sound for the band.

The venue itself is a lively place and an honour to play, mostly specialising in funk and soul, roadside were worried that their indie / rock sound would not be appreciated, but the gig went down a storm and everyone left happy. This is the famous gig where Steve from the band played the entire set with his shoes on the wrong feet! Something that the rest of the band (and the Facebook community in general) will never let him forget. Steve said, “I looked at the stage and I thought my feet were uncomfortable, but just thought that it was my new shoes, and then I thought that my feet had swapped over by themselves, then realised I was a bit thick!”. roadside hope to play Mama Stones again in 2014, and are working on sorting some dates out at this classy venue soon – we will keep you posted! Big shout out to Francesco, who hung out with the band on the night and stood front of stage all night for the best view in the house.
